Shen Bo's Achievements in the Southern Kingdom
《申伯南国建功》

“Go build a town in Xie, and be
A pattern to the south for me.”
The king gave Earl of Shao the charge:
“Lord Shen’s new home must be now large.”
He made the southern states obey;
His heirs should hold the power for aye.
The king gave Lord Shen his command:
“Be pattern to the southern land!
The people of Xie will help you rear
Your city walls, so have no fear.”
The king gave Earl of Shao the charge:
“Mark off Lord Shen’s fields, small and large.”
The king gave his attendants order:
“Remove his household to the border.”
Lord Shen’s work was planned and done
By Earl of Shao, who thus had won
The city walls, ancestral shrine,
And halls completed in good time.
How splendid was the work achieved!
The king to Lord Shen gifts conveyed:
Four steeds so vigorous and brave,
With breast plates glittering and bright.
The king saw Shen off, and he gave
A coach and team so strong and brave.
“I have,” he said, “considered where
’Tis best for you to dwell with care.
The southern land is best, I deem.
Take this great sceptre, let it be
The symbol of your dignity.”
